För varje katolik i Svenska kyrkan bör det vara en plikt att be för och i handling stötta våra trossyskon i andra kyrkor. Nu gäller det särskilt att stödja och be för den kamp som våra anglokatolska bröder och systrar i Engelska kyrkan tvingas kämpa för biskopsämbetet, men än viktigare: sin överlevnad och framtid inom kyrkan. Vi katoliker i Svenska kyrkan har massor att tacka anglokatolikerna för då den väckelserörelse vi tillhör i mångt och mycket har sitt ursprung hos dem. Dessutom bör vi hjälpa dem att behålla vad vi förlorat: organisatorisk rörelsefrihet och det egna samvetets frihet.

Kära Vänner!
Det är allvarliga och avgörande tider i Church of England. Första helgen i juli möts General Synod för att diskutera den sk. Manchester-rapporten och för att staka ut vägen vidare med hänsyn till kvinnor i biskopsämbetet.
En stark lobby bland kvinnliga präster pressar för att det inte skall bli någon lagstiftning som gör framtiden möjlig för dem som inte av samvetsskäl kan acceptera kvinnor som präster eller biskopar. - Vi vet ju hur det går till om sådant saknas!!!
Forward in Faith har dragit igång en massiv kampanj för att visa att vi är många som behöver lagstiftning som gör det möjligt för alla parter att existera i framtiden. Två brev kommer att skickas till Ärkebiskoparna av Canterbury och York ett från biskopar/präster/diakoner (till dags dato över 900 underskrifter) och ett från lekkvinnor (man hoppas på 10.000 underskrifter). Vi begär inte att Church of England skall avstå från kvinnor i biskopsämbetet, men vi begär lagstiftning som gör det möjligt för oss att fortsätta att leva och arbeta i enlighet med vår övertygelse.
Jag har talat med the Director of Forward in Faith, Stephen Parkinson, och han menar att ett brev från oss i Sverige som fortfarande håller oss till apostolisk tro och ordning, där vi uttrycker vårt stöd för våra vänner i Church of England skulle vara till stor hjälp.
Jag har därför skrivit ett sådant brev, och nu ber jag Dig och att hjälpa till att samla så många underskrifter som möjligt!

Most Reverend Fathers in God,
We write as members of the Church of Sweden, a Sister Church of the Porvoo Agreement that has enjoyed intercommunion with the Church of England since 1921, to endorse the letters sent to you by our fellow bishops, priests, deacons and members of the Church of England to ask that, should the Church of England proceed to consecrate women as bishops, proper structural provisions should be made and enshrined in legislation to ensure that those whose theological convictions, grounded in obedience to Scripture and Tradition and attentive to the need to discern the mind of the whole Church Catholic in matters of Faith and Order, may continue to have an honoured place and the fullest possible opportunities to grow and flourish within the Church of England.
Given our experience of life and ministry in a Church that has not seen fit to honour it undertakings in 1958, when the ordination of women to the priesthood was first introduced, but has gradually eroded its so-called "conscience clause" so that the current legislation in the Church of Sweden effectively prevents the proper exercise of episcopacy, priestly and diaconal ministry and with that the full flourishing of the ecclesiastical life of the people of our integrity, we can testify to the disastrous consequences of failure to ensure appropriate legislation for the minority, who desire to continue to uphold the tradition of apostolic faith and life that we share with the great Churches of East and West, and for which the historic episcopate is essential guarantor of Christian truth and unity.
Over the years we have witnessed the erosion of Catholic Faith and Order in our dioceses and parishes, the consequences of the subtle and not-so-subtle exclusion of traditionalist priests and deacons from appointments and preferment and the disastrous ban on ordination of candidates from our tradition, all undertaken in order to affirm the rights of women as priests and bishops. We would not wish this to happen in the Church of England.
At the same time, many of us have received much support and welcome from our fellow bishops, priests and deacons and from traditionalist parishes in the Church of England, which has given us hope and strength to continue our ministry and mission in our Church, even under these harsh circumstances. For many of us, the Church of England has been a major source of inspiration, learning and experience of apostolic faith and practice, especially in the last fifty years, and it is vitally important for us that this influence and access to traditional teaching and practice within a Church, with which we enjoy intercommunion, should continue unabated in the future. It is clear to us that this can only be assured by proper provisions enshrined in legislation.
It is therefore our sincere hope that the Church of England will continue to encompass in her polity an understanding of Holy Orders consonant with that of the great Churches of East and West, that will ensure an honoured place for our fellow Christians of traditionalist convictions in the future, and that the Church of England will continue to play its full part in the long tradition of ecumenical hospitality and encouragement by honouring its apostolic tradition of Faith and Order as together we seek to discern the will of God and to work for the visible unity of all Christians for which our Lord prayed.
We assure you of our prayers at this time.
